SAN FRANCISCO DE MACORÍS.- President Luis Abinader broke ground for the start of the construction of the new hospital of the Northeast Cancer Board, a work financed by the Dominican State with RD$151 million through the Development and Export Bank ( BANDEX).
Fátima Fajar, President of the Northeast Cancer Board, referred to the need to have a hospital to offer timely treatments to the more than 920 patients who visit them daily.
He explained that in 2022 they exceeded the number of patients planned in their strategic plan by 18% and pointed out that 958,913 events occurred, representing 95% of the maximum installed capacity, leaving only 5% for growth during 2023.
The new hospital facilities to be built will have a construction area of 6,244 square meters and a surface area of 9,943 m2. In its first stage it will have 3 large blocks, A will be for Diagnostics, B will be for Emergency and Laboratory, and C for Treatment and Outpatient Consultations, as well as a parking space and green areas.
Fajar highlighted that they offer 0% co-payment to patients who have contributory insurance, humane treatment, and emotional and economic support to those who do not have resources. He showed great satisfaction at being able to count on highly trained staff to provide high quality of service.
He explained that they receive patients from the entire region, of which 60% come from the Duarte province, 11% from María Trinidad Sánchez, 10% from Sánchez Ramírez, 7.5% from Santa Bárbara de Samaná and the rest from Hermanas Mirabal and The Vega. 87% are women and 92% have subsidized and contributory Senasa insurance, which contributes to a great health solution for the State.
Financing for the new hospital was provided through the BANDEX Health Advance Credit, from the Development and Export Bank, a program to strengthen the national private health network established by the Dominican State in 2022 to promote the expansion and modernization of services. health in the provinces and peripheral areas of urban centers.
