Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic – Minister of Finance and Economy, Magín Díaz, swore in Catalino Correa Hiciano as the new General Manager of the Development and Export Bank (BANDEX) on Monday, September 8, during an official ceremony held at the entity's headquarters.
The ceremony reaffirmed the government's commitment to promoting institutional strengthening and consolidating a development bank focused on supporting strategic and inclusive projects for the benefit of the country.
Correa Hiciano's appointment was made official through Decree No. 498-25, issued by President Luis Abinader, which gives him the responsibility of directing and representing BANDEX as the state's development bank.
With this decision, the institution reaffirms its role in financing sustainable initiatives with significant social and economic impact for the Dominican Republic.
Catalino Correa Hiciano is a certified public accountant with a recognized academic background.
He graduated from the University of Organization and Method (O&M), with master's degrees in Tax Accounting from the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) and in Business Administration (MBA) from the Pontifical Catholic Mother and Teacher University (PUCMM).
He also completed a specialization in tax fraud prevention and money laundering at the University of Castilla-La Mancha, Spain.
Throughout his professional career, he has held key positions in the public sector, including National Treasurer, Comptroller General of the Dominican Republic, and Director General of the Social Subsidy Administrator (ADESS), where he drove a profound technological transformation that modernized the delivery of social subsidies, ensuring greater security and efficiency.
His management has received recognition from various business and commercial associations, highlighting his commitment to transparency, ethics, and administrative modernization.
Upon assuming his duties, Correa Hiciano expressed his gratitude to President Luis Abinader for the trust placed in him and reaffirmed his commitment to leading BANDEX with dedication, transparency, and loyalty.
He stated that he takes on this challenge with a deep sense of responsibility, mindful of the bank's mission as a driving force for the country's productive and export development, with a special emphasis on strengthening MSMEs and strategic sectors of the national economy.
The incorporation of Correa Hiciano to the General Management of BANDEX marks the beginning of a new stage aimed at consolidating the bank as a solid, innovative entity aligned with national development objectives, contributing to productive dynamism and the promotion of projects with high social and economic impact in the Republic.
