Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic - The National Energy Commission (CNE) and the Development and Export Bank (BANDEX) held a meeting to discuss the National Energy Plan (PEN).
The Executive Director of the CNE, engineer Edward Veras, spoke about the importance of energy planning to achieve the sustained development of the electricity sector and explained details of the National Energy Policy, the Institutional Model of the Energy Sector, the Diagnosis of the Energy Situation, the Energy Prospective, Urban Solid Waste Projections and the Indicative Generation Expansion Plan.
He added that the plan is a coordinated effort with the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM), headed by Antonio Almonte, as well as with the other actors in the national electricity system. He recalled that the plan includes the policies of all the institutions that are part of the energy sector and that it is a commitment of the current authorities of Luis Abinader's government to make it known to the entire society.
Financing for renewables
The General Manager of the Development and Export Bank (BANDEX), Juan Mustafá, reported that the institution is committed to financing national development projects and reported that the institution has a line of credit to finance renewable energy projects.
Mustafá thanked the guidance received from the CNE on energy planning and guaranteed the collaboration of the financial institution to continue promoting the development of renewable energy sources in the country.
Edward Veras, Executive Director of the CNE, highlighted the importance of the bank's line of credit to finance renewable energy projects and contribute to the diversification of the electrical matrix.
In addition to Mustafá, the Vice President of Risk, Clara Yaryura, participated in the socialization meeting for BANDEX; the Vice President of Business, María Teresa Ferreiro and the Legal Consultant, Sahiana Quezada.
