• Organic Law No. 5894 created the National Housing Bank (BNV) on May 12, 1962 with the fundamental objective of stimulating the growth and regulating the operation of Housing Savings and Loan Associations. The BNV played a pioneering role as a regulatory body for the sector, contributing to the growth of the emerging housing market of the time.

2004 | BNV transformation

• In 2004, Law No. 6-04 transformed the BNV into the National Bank for the Promotion of Housing and Production, with the objective of promoting urban development and creating financing programs to strengthen productive sectors that contribute to development. national.

2015 | BANDEX emerges: Export Promotion

• On July 17, 2015, Law No. 126-15 is promulgated by which the National Bank for the Promotion of Housing and Production (BNV) is transformed into the National Export Bank (BANDEX), as an intermediation entity. public development finance company, with equity and mixed capital, with legal personality and autonomous administration, which will have the subsidiary and unlimited guarantee of the Dominican State.
• The main functions of BANDEX include channeling financial resources to productive sectors with an exportable vocation, in national or foreign currency, through specialized financing and lines of credit for export.

2021 | BANDEX becomes a Development and Export Bank

• As part of the economic recovery policy of the Dominican Republic after the COVID-19 pandemic, President Luis Abinader decides to transform BANDEX into the Development and Export Bank, through the promulgation of Law 122-21 of June 28 of 2021.
• With this transformation, BANDEX becomes a financial intermediation entity that promotes the development of productive sectors of strategic interest for the economic diversification and strengthening of the Dominican Republic and dedicated to the financing of projects with high social impact and whose nature demands better conditions than those offered by commercial banks.
